MR G. BALASUBRAMANIAN

         G. Balasubramanian was a former Director (Academics) Central Board of Secondary Education. He has to his credit three post graduate degrees in Chemistry, Hindi and Education. Starting his career as a post-graduate teacher in Chemistry in a public school at Chennai, he held the post of the Principal of Hindu Senior Secondary School, Chennai. He served the Central Board of Secondary Education for 23 years in various capacities and held the post of Director (academics) from 1997-2005. He also served as the Chief Vigilance Officer of the Board. Widely traveled across the globe, he has participated in several national and international conferences and presented papers on a wide variety of subjects in Education. A strong advocate of stress-free learning, he has fashioned himself as a teacher-trainer and has held hundreds of training programs across the country for teachers and principals on a wide variety of subjects. His interests include Poetry, Writing and Philosophy.

MS. G. PADMA         

         With over 25 years of experience in diverse fields which includes Banking, Consumer Protection, Management, Education and Environment, major part of Ms Padma’s career has been spent in the field of education, both at the school and PG level.

 
   
       
     
   
DIVERSE AREAS OF WORK
  • After a stint with State Bank of Travancore in Thiruvananthapuram and Ahmedabad, she moved to consumer education with Consumer Education and Research Centre, Ahmedabad.
  • As an associate with the Business Policy Area at Institute of Management Ahmedabad, she handled Communication courses such as Written Analysis and Communication and Managerial Oral Communication, as well as a course on Leadership.
  • Visiting faculty at IIM-A for Written Analysis and Communication course.
  • Visiting faculty for Communication and Research methodology in several management institutes in Ahmedabad, notably Som Lalit Institute of Management, Nirma Institute of Management and Ahmedabad Management Association.
  • Visiting faculty for dealing with Managerial Communication – written and oral – at IIM Kozhikode too.
  • Faculty for ELT at the Eklavya Institute of Teacher Education, Ahmedabad, where she coordinated several experiential and exposure activities for teacher trainees like book & movie reviews, field visits to diverse institutions and interactions with experts from various fields.
  • Organized and coordinated workshops for teacher trainees and school teachers on various topics including teaching skills, the psychology of learning, teaching of English and Social Sciences, reading campaigns
  • Associated with Educational Initiatives (EI), a company started by IIMA alumni as Test Development Manager, for coordinating the development, design and printing of question papers in English, Maths and Science for classes 3-9. Subsequently, Hindi and Social Science papers were also introduced. This test called ASSET is widely being used by schools to check the understanding and skill level of the students.
  • At EI, Ms. Padma, along with a team, was involved in various research projects including on National And International Tests, Learning Standards From Various Countries, Textbook And Syllabus Analysis Of 10 States of India and CBSE, the art and science of question making, self development for teachers and several other areas.
  • Coordinated and conducted training programmes on the concept of Understanding by Design for schools in various cities in India, as well as total school improvement projects with select schools.
  • A trainer with the British Library, Ahmedabad, for their weekly courses as well as corporate trainer for their Business English Certificate.
  • At the Centre for Environment Education, a centre of excellence established by the Ministry of Environment & Forests, Govt of India, she has been instrumental in starting a e-newsletter on sustainable development, coordinated a distance learning programme on environment, development and communication, a school project titled ‘Global Communities for Sustainability’ and a case study documentation project on sustainable development.
